تلقى المدرب المصري حسن شحاته عرضا من نائب رئيس نيجيريا لتولي تدريب المنتخب النيجيري لكرة القدم خلال نهائيات كأس العالم 2010 بجنوب أفريقيا، في وقت تعاقد فيه نادي سندرلاند مع الظهير الأيمن المصري الدولي أحمد المحمدي.
