ركزت كبريات الصحف البريطانية على تحقيق شيلكوت في حرب العراق، فبينما انتقدت ديلي تلغراف ما وصفته بهوس حزب العمال في التلاعب وتضليل الرأي العام لغزو العراق، اعتبرت ذي إندبندنت شهادة أحد مسؤولي الحزب تمهيدا لشهادة رئيس الحكومة توني بلير.
