أعلنت لجنة التحكيم بجائزة نجيب محفوظ فوز الروائي السوري خليل صويلح بالجائزة في دورتها الرابعة عشرة عن روايته "وراق الحب". ورأت اللجنة أن الرواية استحقت الجائزة لأنها ذكية ومؤلفها بارع في القص فهو يجيد فن الاستطراد والتناص دون أن يفقد بوصلة السرد.
