تناولت بعض معظم الضحف البريطانية والأميركية إستراتيجية أوباما للحرب على أفغانستان بالنقد والتحليل، وذهبت في معظمها إلى أن تحديد الرئيس الأميركي موعدا لانسحاب قواته كان خطأ إستراتيجيا من شأنه إضعاف موقف القوات الأميركية أمام القاعدة وطالبان.
