وسط تحذيرات من الزيادة السريعة في معدلات التدخين بالقارة السمراء, أطلقت منظمة الصحة العالمية حملة لمكافحة التدخين في أفريقيا. كما صدرت تحذيرات من أن أكثر من ثمانية ملايين شخص سيموتون سنويا قبل حلول 2030, ما لم يكبح الانتشار السريع للتدخين.
