قال مسؤولو استخبارات ومتخصصون في مكافحة المخدرات إن الممرات البحرية لجنوب الأطلسي أصبحت طريقا مفضلا لتجار المخدارت الناقلين لها من أميركا اللاتينية إلى غرب وشمال أفريقيا، حيث تنشط الجماعات التي لها صلة بالقاعدة هناك في نقلها إلى أوروبا.
