أفاد تقرير يصدره مركز الجامعات العالمية ومعهد التعليم العالي التابع لجامعة جياو تونغ في مدينة شنغهاي الصينية أن الجامعات الأميركية حلت في المراتب الأولى عالميا للعام السادس على التوالي. واعتمد التصنيف معايير منها المنشورات العلمية وعدد الفائزين بجائزة نوبل.
