أديب وروائي روسي كتب روايته الأولى في سن الـ25 وترجمت أعماله لأكثر من 170 لغة، وسجن وأصدر في حقه حكم بالإعدام، لكنه ألغي في اللحظة الأخيرة، ونفي إلى سيبيريا، وتوفي عام 1881 بعد صراع مع المرض.
