يعتقد الباحث الفرنسي أوليفييه روا أن إسرائيل أسست مجتمعا يهوديا منعزلا عن الثقافة اليهودية ويعيش صعود الشعبوية والهوية القومية، وذلك بمحاولة إعادة خلقها لمجتمع يهودي واحد لم يوجد إلا قبل ألفي عام.
