وافق العراق على انشاء مشروع مشترك مع شركة شل للاستثمار في تطوير إمدادات البلاد من الغاز الطبيعي، وهو الاتفاق الثاني من نوعه بين الحكومة العراقية وشركة أجنبية منذ الغزو الأمريكي للعراق عام 2003.
