بعد اجتيازه امتحان دخول أكاديمية الشرطة، رُفض كريم لا لشيء إلا لأن على جبهته آثار السجود، مما يعني انتظامه في أداء الصلاة، وهو ما رأت فيه الشرطة الفرنسية دليلا على ميول انفصالي محتمل.
