شرع دبلوماسيون وجماعات ضغط أميركية في تكثيف الضغوط للحد من العلاقات التجارية بين أفريقيا وإيران ضمن الجهود الدولية للضغط على إيران، وهو ما أدى بالعديد من الشركات الأفريقية إلى النظر في سحب استثماراتها من طهران.
