تناولت بعض الصحف الأميركية بالنقد والتحليل المحاولات الأميركية للخروج من المستنقع الأفغاني عبر التفاوض مع حركة طالبان، وفي حين أعربت بعض الصحف عن احتمال استئناف مباحثات السلام الأفغاني في فترة قريبة، أشارت أخرى إلى ما وصفته بالطريق المسدود.
