يفترض أن يكون للمستهلك دور كبير في دفع نمو اقتصاد الولايات المتحدة والاقتصاد العالمي هذا العام، لكن التوقعات غير مشجعة. وفي السنوات الثلاث والنصف سنة الماضية كان نمو إنفاق المستهلك ضعيفا بالولايات المتحدة فوصل إلى 0.2% باحتساب معدل التضخم.
