قال الكاتب ريتشارد بونين إنه من اللافت أن يتمكن العراقي المنفي أحمد الجلبي من حمل دولة عظمى على غزو العراق، خاصة وأنه لم يكن آمرا لجيش أو قائدا لقبيلة، ورأى أنه ربما تسبب في جعل الولايات المتحدة تندم على غزوها العراق لسنين.
