تحتفي الجامعات الإسرائيلية الكبيرة بالتعاون مع مجمع اللغة العربية بحيفا بمئوية الأديب الراحل نجيب محفوظ تكريما لإبداعه ولتأييده اتفاقية "كامب ديفد". فبعد جامعتي تل أبيب وحيفا خصصت جامعة بن غوريون في بئر السبع بدورها يوما دراسيا للكاتب المصري الحائز على نوبل.
