تعد مدينة سبها كبرى مدن الجنوب الغربي لليبيا ، وتتوسط المسافة بين طرابلس العاصمة و الحدود الجنوبية مع تشاد والنيجر ، ومع انتشار الأنباء عن إمكانية أن تكون ملاذا أخيرا للقذافي وعائلته وكتائبه بعد سقوط طرابلس إلا أن أهلها أفشلوا ذلك المخطط ، ويتطلع مسؤولوها الجدد إلى أن تؤهل سبها تنمويا وعمرانيا لخدمة بلدات وقرى الجنوب الغربي إلى جانب تسيير مصالح مئة واربعون ألفا يقطنون سبها
