استمرت الاشتباكات بين المحتجين المعتصمين في ميدان التحرير وسط القاهرة وقوات الأمن قرب مقر وزارة الداخلية القريب من الميدان لليوم الثاني. وأطلقت الشرطة قنابل الغاز لمنع المحتجين من الوصول للوزارة ممّا أحدث إصابات وحالات اختناق. وأفاد مراسل الجزيرة في القاهرة أن عشرات المحتجين الشباب يتوافدون على الميدان لدعم الاعتصام وأنّ الحكومة بصدد عقد اجتماع طارئ لبحث أحداث القاهرة والمدن الأخرى والتي سقط خلالها قتيلان ومئات الجرحى. وذُكر أنّ الاجتماع يناقش كذلك الموقف من وثيقة الدستور المعروفة باسم وثيقة السلمي والاستعدادات للانتخابات البرلمانية القادمة وكيفية تأمين اللجان الانتخابية.
