نسبة سرطان المريء في المملكة المتحدة هي أسوأ نسبة في أوروبا إذ تبلغ 31%. وتعزو جمعية السرطان البريطانية هذه المرتبة التي تعادل نسب أفقر دول آسيا وأفريقيا إلى كثرة تعاطي الخمر وزيادة البدانة.
