استقبل أهالي القدس والداخل الأسرى العائدين بالزغاريد والورود وبمشاعر ألم على آلاف من الأسرى بقوا خلف القضبان.ورغم معارضة إسرائيل في بداية المفاوضات، أطلق 46 أسيرا وخمسة من أسرى الداخل من أصحاب المحكوميات العالية.
