قالت الولايات المتحدة إنها لا تستبعد أي خيار في التعامل مع إيران بعد اتهامها بمحاولة اغتيال السفير السعودي في واشنطن، وبدأت مشاورات مكثفة في مجلس الأمن بدعم غربي واسع، بعد أن اعتبرت المحاولة الإيرانية المزعومة تصعيدا خطيرا وهددت بمزيد من العزلة.
