بدأ مجلس الأمن الدولي الإجراءات العملية لبحث طلب السلطة الفلسطينية حصول دولة فلسطين على العضوية الكاملة في المجلس. وقد يأخذ هذا الموضوع بضعة أسابيع تنشط فيها تحركات سياسية للحيلولة دون اتخاذ الولايات المتحدة موقفا تستخدم فيه الفيتو.
