قدم الرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس إلى الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بان كي مون طلب انضمام دولة فلسطين للأمم المتحدة، وهو إجراء أبدت إسرائيل الأسف تجاهه. وجدد رئيس الحكومة في غزة إسماعيل هنية انتقاد حماس للطلب معتبراً أن الدولة "لا تقوم بالقرارات الأممية".
