أظهرت كتيبات استخدمها مكتب التحقيقات الفدرالي الأميركي في تدريب عملائه أن معظم المسلمين الأميركيين يتعاطفون -على الأرجح- مع المجموعات "الإرهابية" مثل تنظيم القاعدة، وأنهم أكثر قابلية لأن يكونوا "عنيفين".
