دعا أوباما الأميركيين إلى اليقظة في ذكرى هجمات 2001، وهي ذكرى عُزز فيها التأهب الأمني، وكانت مناسبةً للحزب الجمهوري ليهاجم الإدارة الديمقراطية بحجة أن أميركا ليست آمنة كما يجب.
