قال منسق عمليات تعقب القذافي إن المعلومات تشير إلى أنه كان ببلدة بني وليد ثم غادرها، ورجح توجهه للحدود مع النيجر وتشاد. وقد قللت النيجر من أهمية مسؤولين ليبيين دخلوا أراضيها، بعد أن دعتها واشنطن لتسليمهم، فيما اعتقل الثوار خالد الكعيم بطرابلس.
