حظي الفنان أشرف عبد الغفور بثقة زملائه الفنانين المصريين لينتخب كأول نقيب للممثلين بعد الثورة خلفا لأشرف زكي، وقد عرف عبد الغفور في الوسط الفني بجديته الشديدة وانتقائه لأدواره بوعي ومسؤولية، ورغم ندرة ما يقدمه فإن فنه يتمتع بجماهيرية كبيرة، واحترام شديد.
