قال الثوار الليبيون إنهم سيطروا على الجزء الشرقي من ميناء البريقة النفطي بعد قتال عنيف مع كتائب القذافي. وأوضح متحدث باسم الثوار إنهم سيطروا على أحياء سكنية في البريقة لكن جنود القذافي لايزالون في الجزء الغربي حيث المنشآت النفطية. في الوقت ذاته قال الثوار إنهم دخلوا بلدة تاورغاء جنوب شرقي مصراتة، كما حققوا تقدما باتجاه مدينة الزاوية التي تبعد نحو خمسين كيلومترا إلى الغرب من طرابلس وذلك بعد سيطرتهم على بلدة بئر شعيب.
