اتهم مرصد أميركي يتابع النزاعات الأهلية الجيش السوداني بتجميع قواته وأسلحته بالقرب من مدينة أبيي في إشارة لاستعداده لمهاجمتها مرة أخرى، وقيامه سابقا بما وصف بتدمير منهجي لقسم كبير من البنى المدنية في المدينة المتنازع عليها بين الشمال والجنوب.
