احتدم الخلاف إزاء من سيخلف دومينيك ستراوس كان في رئاسة صندوق النقد الدولي، وهو منصب يثير مطامع العديد من الدول.وقال المتحدث باسم الصندوق وليام موراي إن "عميد مجلس إدارة صندوق النقد الدولي بدأ بإجراء الاتصالات بشأن عملية اختيار رئيس للصندوق".
