حذرت الولايات المتحدة من أنها ستتخذ "إجراءات إضافية" ضد سوريا "إذا لم يتوقف قمع المتظاهرين"، وذلك بعد أسبوع من فرضها عقوبات اقتصادية على عدد من المسؤولين والكيانات الإدارية بالنظام السوري. يأتي ذلك بعد فرض الاتحاد الأوروبي عقوبات على 13 مسؤولا سورياً.
