قالت وزيرة الخارجية الأميركية هيلاري كلينتون إن على معمر القذافي ترك السلطة ومغادرة ليبيا، وكان القذافي طلب من الرئيس الأميركي باراك أوباما وقف غارات حلف الناتو. وقال مراسل الجزيرة إن المبعوث الأميركي كريس ستيفنز هو ممثل واشنطن في بنغازي.
