في ظل تفاقم أحداث الثورة الشعبية الملتهبة في الشارع المصري المطالبة بإسقاط النظام ومحاكمة رموزه، دعت بعص الصحف الأميركية الرئيس الأميركي إلى اتخاذ إجراءات على الأرض تؤدي إلى انتقال السلطة في البلاد، وتساءلت أخرى بشأن مرحلة ما بعد مبارك.
