ألقت السلطات المصرية القبض على خلية من نحو 20 شخصا كانوا يخططون لتنفيذ هجمات على السياح الإسرائيليين في سيناء، في حين دعت تل أبيب جميع الإسرائيليين الموجودين في شبه الجزيرة إلى مغادرتها فورا والعودة إلى "ديارهم".
