دعا الأمين العام الأممي الدول الغنية إلى ألا تتوقف بسبب الأزمة عن ضخ الأموال الموجهة لمحاربة الفقر، بأول أيام قمةٍ بنيويورك تريد استدراك التأخر المسجل بتحقيق أهداف الألفية، وشهدت تعهدا برفع مساهمة فرنسا بصندوق أممي لمحاربة الأمراض الفتاكة.
