أثار إلغاء بعض الفرق الموسيقية والفنانين العالميين حفلات فنية كانت مقررة في تل أبيب، قلق الإسرائيليين مما بات في أجواء المشهد الموسيقي العالمي من فكرة مقاطعة إسرائيل ثقافيا. وانطلق هذا التوجه بشكل فاعل بعد الهجوم الإسرائيلي على أسطول الحرية.
