تتزايد الدعوات في اليمن وخارجه لإنقاذ آثاره من الضياع، وبحسب رئيس الهيئة العامة للآثار والمتاحف فإن ظاهرة تهريب الآثار أخذت بعدا منظما بسبب ضعف الدور الرقابي للأجهزة الأمنية ووجود أغلب المواقع الأثرية في مناطق نائية.
