يرى اتحاد الصحفيين العرب أن الصحافة في معظم البلاد العربية تعاني من قيود عديدة تكبل حرية الرأي وتسلب الصحفيين حرياتهم، وقد منعت في العالم العربي صحف واعتقل صحفيون وأوقف نشاط بعض القنوات أحيانا في بعض الدول.
