وجهت الانتخابات البرلمانية العراقية الأخيرة لطمة شديدة لمجالس الصحوة السنية التي لم تكن مجرد حركة لتهدئة المناطق المضطربة فحسب بل أيضا قوة سياسية مرتقبة لإعادة منح سلطة للسنة، بحسب ما جاء في صحيفة نيويورك تايمز.
