استبعد محللون سياسيون فلسطينيون قيام الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بحملة عسكرية موسعة على قطاع غزة ردًّا على مقتل اثنين من جنوده بالعملية التي نفذتها المقاومة شرق خانيونس قبل أسبوع، في حين رأى قيادي بالجهاد الإسلامي أن الاحتلال يسعى جاهدًا لشن حرب جديدة على غزة.
