تقدِّر المنظمة أن 440 ألف شخص تقريبا في العالم أصيبوا بأشكال متعددة من سلالات المرض المقاومة للعقاقير يطلق عليها اسم إم دي آر-تي بي في 2008, وأن ثلث هؤلاء توفوا. وهي المرة الأخيرة التي توفرت فيها إحصائيات كاملة من هذا النوع.
